Buddha at the Gas Pump -podcast
In-Depth Interviews with Spiritual Teachers & Awakening People
Rick Archer’s Buddha at the Gas Pump podcast does a similar thing to Russell Brand’s Under the Skin, except Rick’s been doing it for years so there’s over 400 interviews on his site. They both interview spiritual teachers - Rick Archer usually by Skype and Russell Brand usually in person. Both podcasters come from a Transcendental Meditation background. BATGAP focuses mostly on non-dual teachers but it does cover other ground. Rick is more low key than Russell and I like the balance between Rick’s probing and his tendency to allow the interviewees to express themselves. I’m working my way through the entire BATGAP back catalogue as I walk, jog, drive, travel on public transport, or do the washing up. I went to the earliest interview I could find, played it then let the app begin the next one automatically. It’s inspiring, thought provoking stuff even if you don’t accept everything the interviewee is putting forward. Makes a boring commute more bearable. It’s best to download a bunch of episodes so you can listen in places with no reception.
