Dominic’s long-form experimental film www.a-d-g-z.comcomprising of one continuous looping 53 minute shot, premiered at the Bookworks launch of the edition of The Happy Hypocrite Issue 8 - A Fresh Hell, guest edited by artist Sophia Al Maria.

“A film, streaming live from www.a-d-g-z.com where it runs continuously twenty-four hours a day, depicts characters surveyed remotely, their actions followed, scrutinised and abandoned as they unfold over a sprawl of a desert town. With no clear markers of beginning or end, the work can be encountered multiple times; each meeting a discreet moment of engagement with its disordered storyline.” Bookworks

“I’ve been mesmerised by it. Past, present, future: it feels like a repressed memory, a frontline dispatch, a premonition….”  Sukhdev Sandhu

ROSE CHAN SCREEN TEST

Part of a month long artists’ residency in Kuching, Borneo with the Borneo Art Collective. Dominic and Vera Chok ran a week long workshop with non-professional performers, involving emotional excavation through body and imagination.

A durational piece was then created to run over several hours, across a curated two-storey gallery space, featuring video installations, and live interactive performance spaces. The work explored our relationship to media as well as the tension between the labels we are giventhe roles we play and our direct sensory and emotional experience.
